Gentlemen ... and those of you that I know better,

this is where you can post a picture of your own 14/20H flag flying in places of interest.

i.e. The Berlin Olympic Stadium:

PS. You can still order flags from Bob via Noah's Arc - online shop or directly from myself per e-mail from flagsandthings@gmx.de atb Bill

My thanks to Rick Aindow for suggesting that I visit the Voortrekker Monument while in Pretoria.

Not only is it an amazing building intended to honour the early settlers but it reminds us of how unbelievably gruesome the past was. It was built in honour of the battle of Blood River in 1838 where it is said that 15,000 Zulus fought against 464 well armed Voortrekkers, 3,000 Zulus are said to have been killed causing the Ncome River to flow blood red, not one single Voortrekker was killed. To me it sounds more like a massacre than a battle.

Still it's a sight well worth seeing if you are ever in the area.

Also well worth seeing in Pretoria is the 'Farm Inn' a small private game reserve and the Sammy Marks Museum. Sammy Marks's story is of a poor uneducated youth becoming one of the richest people of his time. Even today much of South Africas industry has its roots in what Sammy Marks did. The museum is infact what used to be his own house, built and furnished in the English Victorian style and, amazingly, almost everything is original. Most inspiring and definately recommendable.

Then it's Trooper this, an Trooper that
And Trooper how's yer soul?

Hi Paul,

don't get arrested ! A couple of my mates got arrested in Israel for flying the 2 Para Flag. They were pissed and decided to fly it from a building crane overlooking the border. Later, after they had been released, we were camping on the shore of the Dead Sea (we were not aware that it was a restricted area at night) and when we lit our campfire they fired at us, across the water, form Jorden ... so the Isralis fired back ... so we all spent a few days in nick in Jerico. The RSM went ape shit when we got back to camp. As the only NCO in the group I got a couple of million extras and more than one lecture on international diplomacy :(
