Interesting comment from Brian O'Bree, ex-Commanding Officer 6th Gurkha RiflesL:
"Interesting to hear of your plans for a suitable monument at the National Arboretum. After about four years in the making (using stone masons working in their own time) our own Gurkha monument is now done. We are having a major opening ceremony in September next year with press attendance as a 'trailer' for our 200 year anniversary events in 2015. I hope you don't have to wait so long for yours to be completed!"

Re: 6GR Monument
It seems to me that our loyal friends the Gurkha's have never been treated with nearly as much honour as they serve and this, in my view, is disgraceful ! Perhaps, not only because of our close affiliation to the Gurkha's but also as a demonstration of support for their loyalty to the us and the UK, we the 14/20th should send as many men as possible to their unvieling ceremony in September 2014.
Bob, perhaps we should first ask Mr O'Bree if he would welcome such a motion ...
If this was given enough publicity .. with a target of say a million former servicemen, in support of our Gurkha friends, in attendance at their opening ceremony, perhaps then they might get some of the recognition that they so rightly deserve. What do you all think ?

Bill,
Excellent comment - I'm already thinking along those lines. I'm adding the event to our own calendar and will include details in our next newsletter and post to social media. thanks. Like you I think we could raise the level of interest to where it should be. I'll get further details from Colonel Brian.
