Re: George Kirk
RIP George,
Fond memories of him in the early 80's in Hohne as our SNCO in charge of a canoeing expedition (holiday) B sqn in Denmark.
Also as Provo Sgt, he was very keen on fire drills us young lads called him Red a Dare Kirk.
He also came to Sooty Postle's wedding in Salford...…...the only SNCO to attend.
May you rest in peace.

Re: George Kirk
George was for me an example of what a fine soldier should be. A former member of the Para Sqn, he encouraged me to also join them. I did and I consider any recognition that l myself received to be partly his. We were friends from our first meeting, I used to regularly go to his Pad in Herefprd. He also supported and encouraged me in my first business venture: Basha Enterprises and, when he was gardening, we often exchanged notes.
Sincere codolences to Sue and the rest of his family.
Rest in peace old friend, until we meet again in Valhalla!

Returned from George Kirks Funeral, where the Regiment was very well represented. And, as what has become the ‘Norm’ we Clapped George’s Hawk draped casket on his final journey!

Re: George Kirk
Just looking back through some obituaries of old friends and noticed that I had not seen the entry (before Sam) the order of service at Georges funeral. His choice of music says it all 'Swing low sweet chariot', he used to do a brilliant version of this after a few drinks. Not something that you would perform in the church I must say, unless your church was the local Rugby Club, fond memories of a good man ...
Then, Sussex by the Sea and the Regimental Prayer, you can hardly get more loyal than that, fond memories of a fine HAWK ...
