All the old Hawks will remember Pembo, especially him wandering around in his wellies with his dog.

My condolences to his wife and family.

A real character of the Regiment, loved and well respected by his NCOs and soldiers , sometimes judged as an eccentric by his superiors.
RIP PEMBO-A MEMORABLE HAWK

He was Sqn leader in Northern Ireland in 1974 when John Tyson got killed, he showed the wisdom of Solomon in dealing with a sticky situation concerning myself, John Cornish and others, I will always be eternally grateful for his actions. Even though a little eccentric, I rate him one of the best.

I did not really know Major Pemberton I do remember he was the Range officer for B.Sqn when we came back from HK to do a Gnry Camp at Lulworth in 71. He seemed to be a man full of Character.
RIP.

Major Pemberton was my Squadron Leader in A Squadron in Herford

I remember him on First Parade on Gunnery Camp telling the Squadron you will all dress smartly like me with; his wellies, long Combat Smock and massive beret and Mick Burgess the SSM at the time having another parade later telling us not to dare!

A great character and a brilliant Officer

RIP Major Pemberton

I wasn't going to mention, but he said the same to us that gnry camp, Ted Morris threatened us with death if we did.
