Roy Standish

Post by Bob_H » Thu Aug 12, 2010 8:43 am

It is with deep sorrow that I have to let you know that my great personal friend, Roy Standish, passed away peacefully early today in North Wales.

We offer our deepest sympathy to Maureen and the family.

The Funeral Service will take place on the 23rd August at 14:30.
Bron y Nant Crematorium near Rhos-on-Sea, Colwyn Bay, LL28 4YN

Rita has provided the details as follows:
Here are the details of the funeral.

The crematorium is off the A55 Conwy. I think it is junction 20 - it is signposted Rhos on Sea. There are signs directing you to the crematorium as you leave the A55.

The refreshments after the funeral will be held at the Faenol Fawr Country Hotel. This is off the A55 Conwy at junction 25. If you follow the directions to the hospital A&E, the Faenol is immediately after the hospital on the left.

For those who will be staying overnight - if you come off the A55 Conwy at junction 25 and follow the signs for the hospital A&E, go past the Faenol Fawr to the end of the road. At the traffic lights turn left - you can only turn left onto the dual carriageway. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit and there is a Premier Inn on the left. If you're booking online it's Castle View Retail Park, Marsh Road, Rhudllan, LL18 5UA
Faenol Fawr: 01745 591 691
Premier Inn: 0870 111 2856

I did not know Roy other than meeting him at the reunions, but he was a Hawk.

My condolences to Maureen and his family.

This is Terrible News, our thoughts and condolences go to Maureen and Roy's Family

Roy was a true friend to me, he was my Troop Cpl when I joined the Regiment in Benghazi in 1964 and we had remained friends ever since.

This is devastating news

Rest in Peace old Friend

I will always remember you with a smile on your face !!!

I was lucky enough to have served with Roy many times from Paderborne onwards and knew him both as a troop sergeant and then as mess members together, I had the greatest respect for him.

I am so glad I got the opportunity to have a good chat with him at Blackpool in April and this is a real sad day.

My sincere condolences to his family and I shall miss him.

R.I.P Roy

Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time Maureen and family. I bet he is challenging St Peter to a game of darts like he used to when we all used to meet in the Ace of Clubs Benghazi. I dont think he ever bought a pint as when it was his turn they had called LAST ORDERS !! RIP old friend.
