Sir Tom Finney R.I.P.

Post by Brian Moulton » Sat Feb 15, 2014 11:13 am

Just heard of the death of Tom Finney. Possibly the last of the legends of my childhood/youth, he joins Stanley Matthews, Bert Trautmann, Nat Lofthouse & Bobby Moore. A down to earth real gentleman, not one of the current crop of prima donnas.

Brian Hunter will, no doubt, be gutted.

Nice tribute Mr Moulton sir !
As a Preston born lad myself, yesterdays news was very sad, Finney was a legend in Preston and always will be.
Can you imagine the likes of John Terry, Rooney, Gerrard, etc, etc, etc, going to training with a wheel barrow and tools in it, so they could go do a proper job afterwards ???
Then it's Trooper this, an Trooper that
And Trooper how's yer soul?

The last of the 'Big Three' Finney, Matthews, Lofthouse.

All humble men who played football for their love of the game and not its financial rewards. They played for their 'Home' sides: Preston, Stoke (then Blackpool) and Bolton, with loyalty not present in today's game.

RIP Sir Tom
