Welcome Bert Wilde

Post by PINKY » Sun Jun 09, 2019 5:50 pm

I'd like to welcome Bert, Sue and family to NOAHSARC.
As a young lad I drove for Bert on my first exercise on Soltau, one of my best condrs ever.
I also worked for Bert in the officers mess in Berlin for 6 months, we had a pretty good time considering the job - lol.
Join in Bert.
All the best
Pinky

Hi Bert,
Welcome to the real Noahs Arc
There are still a few of us left on here that have not deserted this wonderful site to the FBI's world-wide surveillance network they call facebook.

How different things are today compared to the best communication we could manage in the troop then was about 20 miles by C42 in direct sight not like the posh RHQ C11 R210 operators with their HF skip and jumps. Mobile smart phones not even imagined.

I find it hard to believe how many years have passed (53 years) since those relatively simple times and sadly how many comrades have also passed.

Checking with my autobiography I recorded that the advance party went to BAOR on 13 December 1966. You and I were members of that advance party and here is an extract from my entry for Christmas Day 1966.

"That night on Christmas Day evening Tony and I met up with Gary Bell and Bert Wilde in the NAAFI to play monopoly. (Oh the excitement of leisure, and how times have changed)"

Once again welcome to our home website.
