York Bks, Munster.
A friend of mine as forwarded on to me a few photo's of york bks as it gets ready to be handed over. I don't know what the Germans intend to use the camp for but would be very interested to know if anyone as any information about this. Enjoyed some memorable times in the Gremendorf area.

Re: York Bks, Munster.
I live just up the road, as I posted on facebook a photo of the last day, it´s sad days, however that goes hand in hand with drawdowns.
As for the barracks, I have heard it will become a campus for students, as Münster is a huge foreign student city, and accomodation is tight, all the quarters are up for sale, or have been sold. Next year december 2013, Oxford Barracks closes, thus ending any Military connection to that area.
I will endevour to find out more, as press releases in local papers become available.

Cheers Prendo,
I can remember most of the buildings in the photos, at least they are being made use of and not knocked down.

Re: York Bks, Munster.
Thankyou for the photo link of old barracks in Munster. My friend sent me a few when he visited the area. The ones in the newspaper of York Barracks brings back alot of good memories of my time spent there. Its the end of an era but i'm sure the Germans will put all the old barracks to good use. All the best, DOC.Prendo wrote:Another interesting set of fotos on this site York Barracks.
