A large earthquake occurred in the Emilia-Romagna region yesterday. I've sent a message of sadness from us at the loss of life to Medicina via Luigi. Here's what Luigi replies:
Very many thanks, I’m happy and moved by your thought and concern. I have passed your email to Matteo and I'm waiting for a response.
The earthquake was really strong. There are 7 victims, a lot of wounded and many buildings breached. Over 3,000 people are homeless: the buildings are well built but the most important damages have been inside, all windows, all the furniture fell down and crashed. It’s dangerous to walk inside. This in the area of Ferrara and Modena.
I live at over 150 km far from there but last Sunday, at 4 am, the firstquake was so hard that woke us up and continued for almost 10 seconds. But no problems, only a bit of anxiety.
But the tragedy of the weekend is biggest because I must add the cowardly bombing in front of a high school of Brindisi (in Italy’s south) and the death of dear Melissa, student,16 years old.
Take care and all the best to Linda and you, my dear good Friend.
