CO's Silver stick_Remember this?

Post by Mac McGuinness » Mon Jan 16, 2012 3:54 pm

My name is Dave (Mac) McGuinness
I served the 14th 20th Hussars back in 81 (Hohne/ Berlin) etc.
During my time I participated on an NCO cadre and after a brawling 4 weeks of fun managed to win the event by presentation of the (at that time) CO’s silver stick.

I recall all winners of past years had been engraved on the stick which was secured at CO office.

Just wondering if there would be any chance of receiving a jpg picture of the stick as it is/ was and a close up of my name on it? May seem a little vain, it is actually for my memories, which I cherish of this great time and experience serving with the 14/20H.

Mac McGuinness (for some, Scouse) :)

Hi Bill, I live just outside of Hanover in a town called Gehrden.
After my service time I put up my tents in Germany and did the college bit. Get back to UK at least twice a year, all fits well.

When I did my NCO's Cadre at Tidworth with John Cornish and few others, Arthur Nettleship was awarded the silver stick.

Hiya Mac,
Good to see you on here.......
The best chance you have is if Drac Draper or John Cornish get involved.
I did 10 years with KRH and don't recall the silver stick !!
Maybe it dissapeared at amalgamation time.
Good luck

Cheers Pinky, I'll try that.

Recall a guy called Pinky but it obviously isn't you. Last saw him in Berlin with B Sqn.

I think it was actaully Drac Draper who was the RSM at the time. B Sqn hosted the cadre with Bob Morrow as the mean beast... :D

OC our Cadre in about 68/69 time was Jeremy Moger we all thought that having been a ranker in the Marines he would be sympathetic to us, WRONG, got beasted from morning til well after dark. It never hurt us in the long run though.
Can't remember anybody else who was on the cadre except Al Slatter.

Cheers Ron

Hi Mac
During your time the Silver Stick was kept in the officers mess on "property"
As for the present location, I am not sure, however whats usually listed on property normally stays on property.
it was never discussed during "amalgamation aspects"
DRAC. IF YOU WERN"T CAV, YOU NEVER WERE,

BLESS ALL HAWKS, WHEREVER YOU MAY BE..
