And Trooper how's yer soul?

Hi Phill

no Teddy Bear just seems that the recipients all seemed to come from a very narrow band of in the click people,(Masons) there we're many deserving members that we're over looked (non masons), but had contributed to the Regiment over many years in sports (at Army level) and in Regimental Duties in outstanding ways, its just that they couldn't or wouldn't say Wodeney or Wooopert HOW WONDERFUL YOU ARE, now this is strickly a personal view point but I am sure there are others who might agree ............... Now if some body was to tell me that that secret organization didn't exist in the Regiment or in Lulworth then I would disagree, trousers up, funny hand shakes aprons and all.

Mr Jones sir !
Much as i agree in some sentiments about what you say, i'm afraid i'm hard pushed in other respects to imagine Drac and Waggy as goat sha**ers !!

Mick Burgess was totally anti masons and I think you can add Dave Lowe to the non masonic.

Hi All,

I tend to agree with both Phil and Pinky regarding the Regimental Medal. I remember during the time I served with the Regiment there where only around two recipients per year none on some occassions and I would have to say I cannot remember one who did not deserve it.

I would like to think I served with some distinction; played Rugby for the Armoured Corps and at Divisional Level (like others did), represented the Regiment at: Rugby, Hockey, Boxing, had a couple of good postings representing the Regimental well on those and had a good Regimental career, only in front of the Colonel once, (that was the time I was caught!).

But did I do anything outside of the ordinary? on a couple of occassions probably, but to warrant a Regimental Medal perhaps not.

Does not mean I would not liked to have been awarded it, then it meant something.

Unfortunately once we were almagamated and I do not mean any disrespect to the King's Royal Hussars at all; the Royal Hussars; I think misunderstood the history and significance of the Regimental Medal and did as Pinky said, it was presented to individuals for simply doing their job and I have to admit I saw that on quite a number of occassions in just the 30 months I served with them.

However, I also understand that it is the King's Royal Hussars' right to do what they want with their history and traditions just as it is the ex serving member's right to remember our Regimental history, tradition and to moan about the new traditions.

Just my opinion

Cheers

Mac

Mac
Well said. When I think back to the teams that were succesfull because I dident play for them. Rugby, made it to the regimental team for 1/2 a match. All the other props were injured or on leave me and Sam played 1/2 a game each.
Boxing, never took part I cant put up a guard I lead with my chin. Hockey I got sent off the first time I played. Not my fault they gave me a stick with a hook so I used the hook. Cricket, John Gates bowled one ball at me in the practice nets never again. So by me not playing many a game was won.
