BELIZE 2 (FART) 25 YEAR REUNION 2011
From
Chris Billington
Profile pic changed.. It was 25 years ago a band of crack band of brothers from the legendary 14/20th Kings Hussars took off to Belize, Central America, for a 6 month stint with 40 Commando Royal Marines and 3 Queens Regiment as the Force Armoured Recce Troop (FART).. This weekend, those very men will be sharing memories and beer in a ramshackle bar near Preston, (Kells 50th Piss Up), to celebrate still being able to.. Those of you who were with us, still in far flung places across the globe, will be missed and a dance of the flaming arsehole, along with a chorus of "Down the throat of a goat" and "He's my brother Silvest" will be sung in your honour, ably lead by Sgt Major Bulldog Drummond.. God bless all our troops still serving and fighting in far flung NAAFI's across the world.. Unfortunately the M15's must be left at home, there will be no Iguana or Monkeys to hunt for dinner, and 22 SAS will not be pestering Capt P'OND to blow up the Pinkie with a 30mm Rarden Cannon.. Nor will there be a 6am 5 mile run to the wedding cake just for the fun of it.. But I'm sure we'll have a great nite.. Us ex Soldiers are lucky lads.. We have more brothers than you could ever imagine... Hussar x

Just to add to that, they'll be no Mexico flag there either, had there been, i've no doubt Denny and i would repeated our "Match of the Day" special, as seen by Hawks and a fair size of the rest of the British Army, during that memorable afternoon at the "Estadio Universtaire" in Montery !
To anyone whose coming tomorrow night, both for the reunion and my 50th, see you there, be a good night !!!

Then it's Trooper this, an Trooper that
And Trooper how's yer soul?
But it's "Hawks are bloody 'ero's"
When the tanks began to roll!

Re: BELIZE 2 (FART) 25 YEAR REUNION 2011
In 1972, Air Squadron, 14/20th, Kings Hussars sent two detachments to Belize, each detachment serving about 4 months each. We had such a wonderful time there, what with the beautiful weather, the scenery, the animals and the swimming. We had a few days on an offshore island scuba diving and lazing about on the beach drinking Appleton Rum. I remember Ginge Mayall had a close encounter with a shark that almost frightened him fart-less, but then it was Ginge and it was the shark that swam off. Ginge and I were part of the garrison rugby team that spent a week in Mexico City. We stayed at the home of an Argentinian millionaire enjoying the lifestyle and the company of two young ladies he provided, just to to show us around the city of course! Oh yes, and we played a couple of games of rugby as well.
At the end we came back to winter at Netheravon and enjoy the snow on Salisbury Plain.
Hope you all enjoy your reunion and trust that you have fond memories of Belize, Airport Camp and the jungle.

Remember it very well! I was the import Air Sqn Ldr ( From LG) and have the fondest memories of our detachment in British Honduras - as it was then!

Hello Boss,
When I saw your name it was like a blast from the past.
Nice to hear from a member of the Air Squadron, we do not get many mentions on these forums and when I saw the name of the Boss himself it cheered me up greatly.
Chopper, (aka Bill Griffiths)
