RESULTS OF EGM AND ELECTION OF NEW COMMITTEE

Post by Bob_H » Tue Nov 12, 2019 10:37 am

RESULTS OF THE EGM AND ELECTION
WE HAVE A NEW COMMITTEE

I hereby announce that the Motion set out in the notice of Extraordinary General Meeting dated 5 November 2019 was duly passed on a poll at the online EGM.

Details of the votes cast was as follows:

REMOVAL OF ALL MEMBERS FROM THE NOAH'S ARC COMMITTEE
FOR: 216 AGAINST: 3

Notes:

1. Votes were collected from our private Facebook Group “The Home of the 14th/20th King’s Hussars” (933 members) and our Website Forum (1283 members). There is a large duplication in members of both sources and some will be inactive but it is considered that the vote was taken from a representative number of active members;

2. Minutes will be published soon.

I can also announce that a single nomination was received for the Appointment of the Noah's Arc Executive Committee and that this nomination is therefore deemed to have been elected.

The new Committee of Noah's Arc will now assume full responsibility for all aspects of the management and control of Noah's Arc on the behalf of members.

the Committee comprises:

CHAIRMAN: Stephen Costello

VICE-CHAIRMAN: Darryl Cartwright

TREASURER: Paul Foley

SECRETARY: Therese Costello (non-executive position – no executive voting rights, only with wider committee)
As a group we would bring greater transparency on the work undertaken by the Committee. There will be a return to published Minutes and there will be a Treasurers report stating the balance of the bank account and detailing expenditure and receipts. These reports will be published to the membership.

Suggestions will be taken from wider committee members as to the theme of the fancy dress evenings and then the suggested themes will be put to a poll of the membership. This means that the members will get a say in what they would like THEIR reunion to look like.

A formal constitution will be prepared setting out the powers of Noah’s Arc Committee including rights of removal of any office holder where a conflict position has arisen. Rules will be put in place regarding the operation of the Noah’s Arc bank account. There will be not less than 4 signatories on the account and all expenditure will require the approval of at least 2 signatories. Partners/Spouses will not be able to authorise expenditure.

Stephen Costello is a business banking consultant and is fully conversant with company accounts and banking regulations and the operations of charity and club accounts. He has meticulous record keeping ability. He is a very approachable person, has strong people skills and would work hard to bring the people attending the reunion together and to increase attendance. Stephen was welcomed back into the fold of the 14th/20th King Hussars a few years ago and now wants to give something back to the people who mean so much to him by taking the role of Chairman. He is passionate about making sure that everyone in the Club is included and that the Hawk Family continues to thrive. Stephen is a serving member of his local Royal British Legion Chapter Committee.

Darryl Cartwright is a well known and respected member of Noah’s Arc. He is a musician with good connections to members of the regimental band and other bands. He regularly attends funerals of the Armed Forces to play the Last Post as a final act of honour and respect. He has committee experience as he has worked for many years with his local youth football club. He served for 9 years as the club secretary and has been Chairman for the past 4 years. During that time he has expanded the club from 6 teams to 37. He was recognised for his work in 2019 by receiving an invitation to the Queen’s Garden Party. Darryl was part of the sub-committee alongside Bob Harrison and Drac Draper, that consulted with Noah’s Arc members and raised funds towards the current KRH and predecessor regiments memorial and paving stones at the National Memorial Arboretum.

Paul Foley is a team player. He has budget control experience and is meticulous in his record keeping. He has experience in online fraud prevention from his years working in security. He is a well known figure in the regiment who works hard to bring people together. His fun loving personality is infectious and he never fails but to raise spirits when he is around. He is a keen fund raiser for charity particularly those associated with veterans or those who have been in the Armed Forces. He is an active member of an online support group for homeless veterans and those who are suffering from mental illness and offers support to those most in need.

Therese Costello is a solicitor by profession with experience in Local Government. She is a trained minute writer and will undertake the role of preparing Minutes for approval and publication and deal with all necessary correspondence relating to the arrangements for the reunion and fund raising. To avoid any conflict of interest arising Therese will not have executive voting rights and will only be able to vote on committee motions with the wider committee members.

Personal Note:

I thank all members for their participation in the EGM. It only remains for me to ask that you give your full support to our new Committee. This has been a freely open election and the new committee have demonstrated to me that they are not only very capable but that they want to carry out their role. I call upon the outgoing committee to cooperate with the new committee in releasing all assets of our club to our Members. The Noah's Arc Reunion is ON, book your rooms, turn up and have a great weekend. Let us see the togetherness we have always enjoyed in the past. HUSSAR!

This is my final action in what has been an emotional period for many of us.

Thank you,

Bob Harrison

Thanks Bob,
New committee, new start. Excellent.
Whats the chance of getting the FB sites to merge into ONE? It would be much easier for us to follow threads etc.
