Hi Tony,

couldn't view your post without logging on to some other site/network-whatever, which I don't do, but I recall recently watching some clever dicky telling us that NOTHING could possibly, illegally or accidentally get out of Porton Down ... so my question is :where did green monkey fever come from ? Anybody else remember this incident ?

Hi Tony and Bill, here he goes again. From my profile you see I was at 7 Armoured Bde from 65. I was a NBC instructor. To do this I went on a course to the NBC Centre at Winterbourne Gunner, Wilts which is a mornings run fro Porton Down.
We were taught all about Nuclear, Biological and Chemical warfare. To my mind Biological warfare is by far the most to be feared. One vehicle dispensing the agent through a pipe, similar to an exhaust pipe, travelling at normal speed down the length of the Motorway(M4?) which runs down the west side of the UK can effectively kill everybody in UK. By the time the incubation period is over and people begin the show the symptoms everybody, and I do mean everybody including Doctors, Nurses, all medical professionals will have been infected too.
To the perpetrators who do this, who by the way will have the antidote before starting the venture, they will have conquered the land without contaminating it Chemicals or destroyed the infrastructure by radiating it.
Just as an aside the Germans who had developed Nerve gas in the Thirties never used it because they thought the Allies had it, which we hadn't.
Some Civil Servant in the Thirties had decreed that DDT was dangerous and banned it in UK. As DDT was the basis for Nerve Gas the Nazis thought we had it.
I think it was at a Ordinance store in Duisburg that the Allies first dis covered it. There was a huge pile of 44 gal drums painted green but with nothing to identify the contents. So unscrew the stopper and smell, was it diesel or petrol. After 43 soldiers just collapsed and died they thought this might be something else. I believe, off to Porton Down they were sent. You live and learn, or more correctly some mugs die and you learn.

As (almost) ever Arnie,

your first hand wisdom can not be faulted and is a rare source of how things are ! I think it must have been in the 80's when a film was made about a bunch of hippies who hid their canabis on the exhaust pipe of their love-mobile. As they drove through the countryside everyone got high, and yes, it was a piss take of your own realistic story, quite funny too. Should push ever come to shove, I guess having a laugh about it will be the wisest option; choking with laughter some how seems better than choking with anger.

I sure hope that those twats who keep jabbing at the Russians realize that they are playing with Hell Fire. Personally I don't see any winners, the day after ...

fully agree Bill why is it so politically incorrect for us to meet the Russians on neutral ground . Take the SOUND information with them sit down and have a genuine discussion about this terrible and frightening attack on UK territory. Who knows between them they MAY find out it could be some obscure rogue state trying to destabilize the western alliance.
I have always been a great believer discussion and compromise rather than wild unfounded accusations by politicians wishing to please the media. Remember the good Friday agreement if they had not talked and compromised the bombing and killing would still be going on .

Here endeth the lesson take care fellas. Mick/Marion Back to the golf !!!!!!

Mick,

it gives me considerable satisfaction to know that not everyone thinks that everything that I write is crazy and especially when it comes from a guy like you with your own very considerable real life experience. Now I must see if I have still got my re-entry pass back into Netley; old soldiers never die they just end up in ward 13 !

Bill,

Must say that I have not noticed anyone saying that some of the things you write is crazy, because most of us agree that you and me and Mick and everyone else is entitled to their own opinion (no matter how crazy they are) just kidding!!
For instance what everyone who loves Hillary the Killer thinks, is their opinion, (no matter how crazy it is). I am still waiting for everyone in this Retirement village to apologise to me, especially the little old ladies who, shortly after his win said, "they wish someone would kill him". Little old ladies, all suffering from the Goebbels-like propaganda the DNC and HRC was spreading.
Anybody who has been following the politics in America as closely as I have, must have noticed that EVERYTHING they accuse him and the Republicans of doing, is exactly, what they do, and in spades.
Must admit though that I am approaching the limit of my tolerance for the whole lot of them. Will have to find something else to fill my 'leisure' time with.
Incidentally, agree with you yet again about Mick's unequalled 'reallife' experience. Go Hussar!!!!!

Hi Arnie,

it is not those who do reply to my views that necessarily consider me to be crazy, but I have to assume that those who do not bother to reply in some way either consider the expressed opinions to be unworthy of a reply or too crazy to want to express their own opinion about. Or maybe they are all just too busy doing their own thing, which is a shame, for them, because not keeping in contact with old pals is crazy. So it's them not me
Did you ever read catch 22 ?

Stay safe in this ever crazier world ...
