Re: knife's edge

Mick, very well put, I guess that 'we the people' were always at the wrong end of the stick. I also recall a story, about a young recruit, on his first day in camp, strolling across the parade square, when the RSM accosted him. Prodding the recruit with his pace stick, the RSM screamed "at the end o...

Re: knife's edge

Good on you Bob, it is only when people stand up for their opinion that any person with open eyes, and a brain, can truly look for, and find, the middle ground. At this point in time, it matters not how we got here, or who said what and when. It does however matter what each and every one of us does...

knife's edge

It rather looks as if we are sitting on a knife's edge, regarding Brexit. Has everyone lost interest ? It is probably the most important event in our life's time and it's certainly going to affect the lives of our kids and theirs. I voted against joining the EEC, which turned into the EU without any...

Re: The big tour

Thanks Pinky, I suspect that my camera has been set to a very high quality picture and so holds too much data to be posted in the way that you suggest, I have tried several times, must reprogram the camera me thinks. Sammy, The Spaniards want special concessions regarding Gibraltar, the Portuguese a...

Re: The big tour

Hope you liked the pictures Mick, We already had -6°C last night, -10 is common, -15 is regular and it gets down to -25 on occasions, but -39 is hard core; you'd better watch out for your Pinky, Pinky !  My problem with the cold is an old leg injury, which caused poor circulation and so c...

Re: The big tour

Our Big Tour, part two ... (sorry pictures still not activating) On the afternoon of the 2nd of November Rahi took this photo and later showed it to me saying: look our guardian angel. After leaving Germany and entering France we just wanted to race on through because of all of the controversy abou...

Re: Daz at the England v NewZealand Test Match

Well done indeed Daren,

I couldn't open the video, no flash player, whatever that is. Nevertheless, the way the others are strutting with pride I shall join the marching band as so often before !

Re: JOE STAFFORD 14th/20th Kings Hussars 1966 - 1989

It's a bit very late but, RiP Joe ! I remember Joe well, from Herford, a nicer guy you could hardly meet. Now he will rest for ever in the area that I grew up and I'm sure he will enjoy seeing the kids collecting conkers and dueling to become the conker king of C-c-H, just as so many of us did when ...

Re: 11 November

Good on you Pinky, although nothing has changed, now there will be an enquiry into the Bally Murphy incident and, I do not doubt, that more loyal soldiers will be hung out to dry. I am thinking of the past and struggling to cope with today but will never forget a friend. My old man used to say "when...

Re: The big tour

Hi everyone, here we are, 5 nights and six days into our tour and only just starting to catch our breath after the enormous effort of getting going. I suppose that we could have waited a couple of days longer and started in October, but the weather was turning and I wanted to be moving in September....
