Re: Pete Webb MM

I have not seen or heard from Peter Webb MM for many years. Peter was already serving when I arrived with the Regiment in 1972, it must have been around then that he had his 'contact' for which he was awarded his Military Medal. By the time I did meet him it quickly became clear that we had much in ...

Re: Mark Field

How sad, it rather looks like Noahs ARC is sinking, that is to say that following my last entry "We all have to make do with that what is available to us, so, as long as I get a contender I'll keep preaching here on Noah's ARC," nobody has bothered to reply, which means that I have no contender and ...

Re: Mark Field

Pinky, you are of course 100% right, we shall be dead by then. So I suppose my only remaining argument must be: "is it not how and why you die that matters" ? I should hate to die just because I ate any old apple and got the poison one because I didn't know the difference. I should rather die with m...

Re: A visiter to Alberta.

I guess the baggage limits were pretty tight: taking such a cute little mini HAWK flag. Flying the flag is always a good thing, well done !

Where did you get the mini HAWK flag from ?

Good also to see that time and distance has not diminished old friendships.

Re: Mark Field

Pinky, there's always going to be a problem when you only see half of the picture. In terms of natural cycles our planet is actually still entering a mini ice age. There have been many, since the great ice age, most notably the one that caused the fall of the Roman Empire. So it's hardly surprising ...

Re: Mark Field

Tony, perhaps you remember the fuel crisis back in the 1970's, then there was a 50mph general speed limit. It hardly made any difference to driving times and you consumed about half of the fuel compared to when you drove at the limit; this could save a heap of CO2 production today. It's all a questi...

Mark Field

Mark Field has had to apologize for ‚mishandling‘ a young woman protester who, as part of a large scale Green Peace, save the planet, action, had tricked their way into a private function in the Mansion House. What a disgusting situation. Where is our understanding of right and wrong ? Mark Field wa...

Re: Just an enquiry?

As for me I got the impression that I was boring people because my last few posts got no replies. As Quassi used to say: if it's interesting people will pick up on it. Na, ja, I'm not that blind and deaf that I can't take a hint. Anyway we are still heavily involved in moving. Not yet sold our small...

Re: George Kirk

George was for me an example of what a fine soldier should be. A former member of the Para Sqn, he encouraged me to also join them. I did and I consider any recognition that l myself received to be partly his. We were friends from our first meeting, I used to regularly go to his Pad in Herefprd. He ...

Old people’s toys …

I grew up wearing hand me down clothes. The army taught me how to keep myself clean and present myself smartly. In the past 40 years little has changed, I wear inherited clothes from friends and family who have passed away. In this time I doubt that I have given out more than a hundred pounds a year...

Re: The state of Germany and civilization.

This article is all about Germany’s incompetence, in this case about their military budget and how it is spent. It is also about what the Germans think they need to defend themselves and what others, the USA - NATO demand they spend, which is as usual based upon wrong thinking . So, firstly G...

The state of Germany and civilization.

I did not write this, a fellow HAWK sent it to me: BERLIN — Fighter jets and helicopters that don’t fly. Ships and submarines that can’t sail. Severe shortages of everything from ammunition to underwear. If it sounds like an exaggeration to compare Germany’s Bundeswehr to “The Gang that Couldn’t Sho...
