Why oh Why this North South Divide, in all my 13 years service was there ever any division, we Londoners/ Southerners were treated as equals, and we were all very Proud to be Called Hawks. Political Correctness. I am told we can address persons by Nationality, Brits, Irish, Scots, Ashian etc etc, but we must refer the colour of their skin as White or Black? As a kid we saw people as white,Black, Brown, even Yellow, was that so wrong. Confused 80 year old.!

I served in the 14/20th Kings Hussars from 1951-1964, with great pride. I have however served along side, in Massed Bands, with the 10th,11th, and so many other famouus Cavalry Regiments, and although there was plenty of rivalry and Banter, Never any bitterness, i am sure theNew Generation of Hawks ...

Did "Chico" also work for the "Dobie Wallah" ? Do you also remember the NAAFFI Manager, think his name was Mufood, the story was he was a Libian International footballer, a great guy, he coached the Band football team, who that year won the Darcy Cup, beating the LAD In the final?
