Museum of Lancashire Stanley street

Hi guys just to let you know that as well as doing my sponsored walk, I had the chance to speak to people in higher places than myself about the 14/20 Kings Hussars museum in Preston. I was assured that a committee has been set up and a consortium are looking at different options to keep it open. A ...

Re: Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge

Come on you guys send us your challenge. I have a very good charity fundraiser in mind but I need your ideas for the challenge. One of the guys who did the 3 peaks with me said never again so lets add a bit to it and ask him again if he is game.

Chieftain searchlight

Anyone remember the exercise we did in Germany during the 80s when it came over the radio that the searchlight was not to be shone onto the local villages as it was blinding the local drivers when all of a sudden about 40 chieftains switched on their lights and started zapping moving cars. I don't t...

Re: Mr Brian (Drac) Draper

I am totally gutted I have known Drac for over 40 years and my first meeting with him was when I was a Junior Leader at Bovington in the 70's. A Mr fix it for the regiment who had the knowledge and organisation to do any task set him. I can remember in Munster when I went into his office, he was hav...

Great Brittish Army Wind Ups

Before I put on my favourite wind up story lets here yours. The soldiers weird and warped sense of humour is mind boggling and civvies do not understand it. Im sure a lot of you have been sent for a long stand or a bucket of steam but there must be some great wind ups to be shared. Mine will take so...

Re: New Assistant Regimental Secretary in HHQ(N)

I saw the job advertised on more than 4 job websites and considered applying for it, as it was a civil servant job the rules are that current civil servants have priority then it is put on the open market. Forgive me if I am wrong but anyone could have applied but very few did.

A true gentleman and great leader. Had many glasses of whiskey I mean cups of coffee with him in the back of command vehicles doing radio stags. Sir I salute you thanks for all you have done for the 14/20 Kings Hussars. Condolences to your family.

Re: A day to remember ...

A day to forget is when I was invited to go Kung Fu training with Bill Bentley and Paul Nutter in the gym in Herford. The warm up that they both did lasted about 10 mins of them battering each other black and blue with blood pouring from both of their mouths and noses. After being invited to warm up...

Re: An Idiot Amongst Us !

I will second what Drac and Bob have just posted. I wonder if this same so called Hawk will be on the phone to home HQ asking for help when they need it or are they still ante KRH with a big chip on their shoulder. Jenni knows the job inside out and goes to great lengths to keep the wheels in motion...
