preston march past 12/7/15

Post by john kerwin » Fri Jul 03, 2015 1:32 pm

lancashire evening post today 03/07/15. to mark the forming 300 years ago ?????????? of the mentioned regiments.
the paper states that the 10th @ 11th hussars, now known as the kings royal hussars will march past to celebrate the formation of these regiments 300 years ago ???????
WHAT ABOUT THE 14TH, who as dormers dragoons saw action at the battle of preston bridge in 1715.
and who as the 14/20th kings hussars were lancashires own cavalry regiment. and were given the freedom of preston. have we now been erased from local history.

John

You should realise by now that the people who write these stories 9 times out of 10 have not the first idea what they are writing about.

How about a contingent of "Noah's Arc" members storming the Preston office of the LEP wearing our Noah's Arc insignia and putting them straight on a few things ?

They are like all media, writers of fairy tales. What they can't be bothered to research, they make up.

Or we could all email them with a letter of protest about their sloppy journalism (similar to the 98 degrees campaigns). Might be some good publicity for Noah's Arc and the 14th/20th Kings Hussars (Lancashire's Own Cavalry Regiment). Like wot I was a member of!

To further demonstrate the calibre of this Newspaper? in this 2010 piece they are named as the 14th/20th Kings Royal Hussars !!

Tony. I did the same thing, when I first saw the item in the l.e.p. Still no reply. Not that I expect one.

If they received the information from Fullwood Bks, then it is a fair assumption thatthe info would have come from the assassin, sent in to shut it down so not to be trusted

Denis Jones was so right in his recent comments

I've received a note from the Editor of the LEP saying

"Please accept my personal apologies to you and your colleagues. Regardless of whether this was our error or not, our aim is always to ensure that we print correct information and this error has clearly caused distress and anger to you and your members.

We are going to make sure another piece goes into the paper this week, both previewing the event and correcting the error."

It is emerging that the information came from a Army Press Officer, and definitely not from either the Regiment or HHQ. I may have a name by the end of today.

Maybe you should again read (if you haven't read it already) the bulletin from the Colonel of the Regiment (ex 1420H) who clearly states that it was his difficult decision to close down HHQ (N), explaining his reasons. It's in English with not a lot of long words.

Bob
Gillian has already apologised for her part, which was no fault of the paper. I have apologised to Gillian having found out that the fault lies with the APO. I also suggested that on a day thin with news, that an article about 1420H might be an idea. This would allow the people of Lancashire to understand who they are.

Read comment Bob, twice in fact, three times if you count reading it again to reply. I fully understand English , bi or little words, so I can only assume you need another trip to Spec Savers on you OAP to get youre npeepers checked out.

I did not say that the descision to close HHQN, was his , now did I read where I said that and under line it and send it back to me so we can all see.

I said that as per the previous post (see below) "If they received the information from Fullwood Bks, then it is a fair assumption thatthe info would have come from the assassin, sent in to shut it down so not to be trusted."

"this morning I spoke to the chap who did the article, he printed the information he was give from FULWOOD BARRACKS I did put him right on a few things, and with luck we may get a mention in the follow up article next week. so its not always the LEP that are wrong."

Shut it down means the one who carries out the order or instruction, do i need to elucidate further.

Regards Trevor
