Well put Paul & Tigger, Being a sweaty sock/ ex Drop shot. I have never came across the volume of support for Noah's Arc whether it be FB or On line, the amount of people who turn up every year in Blackpool says it all. I bet The KRH don't get that support unless ordered to. You lads all stick together. Good or bad lets move into the future in the regiments unique way. On a personal note a big thanks to all the lads who put there time into keeping us Informed with whatever social media formats we choose to use. I think the numbers say it all.

Just had a thought is this not the time to offer to spread any words or thought that HHQ wants to reach retired 1420th by contacting you(for a fee for Noahs Arc) and letting you get that message out to them. This would offload the cost of running the site, also saving you the problem of where the income for the site is coming from. General this could save you money too.
Tony

Thanks Tony,

Those lines of communication are already open. My relationship with the Regimental Secretary has never been better than it is now - Col Garbutt keeps me regularly informed with messages for further dissemination, I regularly receive notices from Steve and Jenni at HHQ(N), I am in regular communication with Col Singer (Chairman of the Association), I have contacts within KRH Regiment (Tercentenary, Medicina etc.) and, not least, I receive information from the Trustees of the Regiment and the President of the Association whenever appropriate.

Our Website and Forum, Our Facebook Group and our regular Newsletters are very much appreciated and utilised.

It might be a nice idea but no fee is offered or asked for.

I have been holding my breath on this subject, waiting to read what those who were involved in the amalgamation would write. What strikes me is that everyone seems to have swallowed their feelings and come up with accepting the reality of that what was always inevitable. It also seems obvious that the bearer of the bad tidings played a considerable role, not only in conveying the bad news in a clear and logical manner but in his person, which clearly carries great weight amongst our brotherhood. I feel almost unlucky that I never had the opportunity to serve alongside this officer, as many of you did, when he too was a young soldier.

I had the luck to join the 14/20th and leave the 14/20th and so never shared the disappointment of the amalgamation. I think I know this feeling though, because I was forced to end my time in the Para Sqn RAC because we were disbanded. In the meanwhile, JLR, as many of us knew it, is no more and indeed the DLOY is also no more ...

'Tis all a Chequer-board of Nights and Days
Where Destiny with Men for Pieces plays:
Hither and thither moves, and mates, and slays,
And one by one back in the Closet lays.

Amen,

Half a league, half a league, Half a league onward ...

Mac
we actually did give them thought. At the Ramnuggar Ball we used to invite a Chelsea Pensioner called Gipsy Gillard(this spelling may be wrong) who would attend with his daughter. He thoroughly enjoyed himself.

Yesterday evening, here in Germany, I switched on the TV, BBC, and just caught the second half of 'Hard Talk' and this chap was really making the case for strengthening the armed forces. It was our very own retired General Richard Shirreff. Has anybody else seen the full prog ? Does anybody know how and when it may be reshown ?
