Just To Say......

Postby Dave Parky » Fri Feb 06, 2015 9:35 pm

Sorry guys, not been on for a while. Diagnosed with bowel cancer in October, (probably a bad bratty). Really bad Christmas, as you might imagine. Anyway, results back no secondary, and last Friday had most of my colon removed in Lancaster Royal. They got it all, but now stuck on a bag for the rest of my chuff, small price to pay.
Anyway, the doors open. Anyone struck down with this, don't hesitate, just PM me, more then willing to chat it through, and give what support I can. :D :D

Dave,

A comforting read for anyone. We're all at risk, and to face it like you do is admirable. Thank you.

Hi Dave,

sorry to hear about your predicament, it's inspiring to see how people like you, DRAC, Dutch and a few others handle your circumstances, realistically and without moaning about it. Thanks for sharing and good luck !

I have tried this before and nobody wanted to hear what I was saying but based upon the theory that it's never too late to start doing the right thing ... I'll try again; because there are some out there who might benefit before their situation gets as far as yours has.

Sugar feeds all forms of cancer ! Cut sugar out of your diet and you will effectively starve the cancer ! It's easier said than done because sugar (AND SALT) are added to almost all commercially produced foods, so it's not just the sugar in your tea or the odd bar of chocolate, glass of cola etc. that you have to go without, you need to look into the contents of what you are actually consuming.

You won't find this FACT published in many places because there is a powerful lobby behind addicting people to junk foods; because the rich are also junkies, money and power junkies and they want to hook everyone, regardless of the misery that it causes, to satisfy their own insane greed !

So that's my tip for the day, stop eating sugar and you will reduce your cancer problem and if it's not already too late some out there may be able to avoid cancer completely.

Thanks Bill, wise words indeed. And I take on board your comments about sugar, however, the hospital has suggested that I increase my salt intake since the op. Must be a colostomy thing, but I will certainly ask them about that.

Dave,

great spirit and attitude. Unless someone on the site has the secret of immortality, we will all go eventually. As Bill has said you and the others in the same boat show how it's done, keep it up.

Steve,

re your first post on this topic, I am not being nosey (well I am really) but from the wording of your post it seems your PM to Dave gave some advice that would be of use to us other old codgers facing something similar. Why not be like Bill and and share the benefit of your advice to us all. If it really was a PM with confidential matter please ignore all the foregoing.

Arnie

Sure Steve, Will do if your happy. I know it has given me a great insight.

Hi Dave, it seems to have gone awol mate. I just wanted to say that I was diagnosed with bowel cancer in November 13 and was operated on in December 13. I was home just in time for Christmas , although I wasn't that well. This was followed by 7 months of chemotherapy, unpleasant but bearable. The worst part was the tiredness and stomach cramps from it. I had a 3 hour session on IV then three weeks of tablets then a weeks rest from it all. It was hard. I'd had a right sided hemi - colectomy through key hole surgery and was fortunate to not need a bag afterwards. There are are times when I get a bit down from it all but that soon goes when I think how lucky I was that they caught it early enough and that there were no secondaries. I had my first year scan just before Christmas last year then had to wait for the results for a fortnight, cat on a hot tin roof springs to mind, but my results were good news and I don't have to see them for another year now.
It's a hard few months at first but it gets easier and there is light at the end of it. The answer is to KNOW you are going to beat it and tell everyone else that too. It worked for me . Hopefully you have a partner that can help you through the dark days, I did and she was invaluable. I hope all goes well mate, just keep positive , a little exercise regularly and keep at it.
Good luck with it all and I'm always here if you need a chat. All the best bud. Steve.
