Bill Butcher

Postby Bob_H » Sat Oct 02, 2010 2:52 pm

Algy gave me the tragic news that my close friend Bill died this morning on the golf course.

Bill was my inspiration. Without his love of golf I might have given up the game long ago. RIp Bill.

The Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 on Friday 15th October at Carleton Crematorium (FY6 7QS) and afterwards at the Blackpool Park Golf Club (Stanley Park - FY3 8LS).

17/10/2010 - I've received this from Bill's Children:

We were overwhelmed to see so many from the Regiment. Lining up down the chapel, clapping Dad in and the bugler playing the Last Post made us very proud to be part of the 14/20th Kings Hussars.

The wake at the Golf Club was also well attended. It was an opportunity to catch up with old friends and to put faces to names.

Funerals are not occasions anybody looks forward to but we could not have wished for a better send of and we know Dad would have been very pleased.

We would also like to offer a special thanks to John Cornish for his support during a difficult time and for arranging the music, the regimental flag and the bugler. These touches made it a funeral that we will long remember.

King Regards,
Bill’s Children.

This is really sad news, I have known Bill for 40 years + and some on here have known him even longer.

A great guy and I was really looking forward to seeing him as usual both at Barton Grange & Blackpool.

My sincere condolences to his family and yet another great Hawk has left us.
