George Maggs

Postby Bob_H » Wed Aug 26, 2015 3:43 pm

We are very saddened to announce the death of George Maggs (Lord Farcombe) Dr D G H Maggs 14/20H 1945-1947 on 20th August 2015.

There will be no funeral or cremation as he has donated his body to medical science. We understand that the flag at his home will be lowered to half mast on Thursday 27th August.

George was the most colourful of people who had a distinguished military career as well as being the 'inventor' of Galaxy Chocolate.

We offer our deep condolences.

Very sad to hear that such a legend, and a real character is no longer with us. I'll miss his entertaining stories and funny Christmas letters. Rest easy George, you'll be greatly missed

I last spoke to George on New Years Day, and apart from being virtually confined to home and being attended to by a carer, George mentally was in fine form. A man who had an interesting past, never short of a new story.

I'm sure that he will be sadly missed by many who knew him better than I. at least now George you won't be encumbered by the inability to move around as you would like.

RIP friend .... condolences to all who know and will miss you.
