We've just received this sad news from JC:

I regret to inform you of the death of Lieutenant Colonel Bill Stockton on Sunday 12 January, aged 81. Lt Col Stockton commanded the 14th/20th King’s Hussars from July 1974 to January 1977. There will be a private family funeral within the next 10 days. A Thanksgiving Service will be held in the spring; date yet to be decided.

Bill is survived by his widow, Caroline and his four children, Should you wish to write to Caroline, please email for the postal address. hussar1420@gmail.com

Further details of the Thanksgiving Service will be promulgated once known.

R.I.P. Colonel Stockton.

A decent and respected B Sqn leader ("Hanging Bill"), I think a few would have preferred not to have been put on Sqn Leader's orders when he commanded the Squadron. But I think he was fair, if harsh.

First met him at Porton Down when I took my troop down to do a job for him. A gentleman.
