Bert Birtwhistle

Postby Mac McNulty » Thu Jul 18, 2013 10:22 am

Hi Fellas,

I was filling my car up in Warrington yesterday and Bert pulled up along side Not seen him since Hohne. He played rugby for the Regiment for a number of years and I think he was in D Squadron he transferred across to the Pay Corps and got out in the nineties under Options for Change.

He lives in Warrington just a couple of miles from me and just around the corner from John Clements, we only spoke for a minute or two and I have his number. I said I would get in touch with Bulldog and perhaps organize a drink in the next couple of weeks.

He said he has thought about going to a reunion but never did told him to get his backside in gear and get across to Blackpool.

Cheers

Mac

Brian is a grand lad and very involved in youth training - boxing, goes to competitions and all of that. Keeps the layabouts off the streets ... we could do with more of his sort !

If its the same Bert, he joined A sqn in Warminster along with Mick (Geordie) Kenna who became his brother in law when he married Berts sister. Now that was a good reception.

Bery Birtwhistle and Geordie Kenna, both played squadren rugby for A sqn in the Darcy Hall and Birty played for the regiment.

I saw Birty when I was attached to the Recruiting Office in Mabchester and he worked at the pay office in the Barracks in Ashton U lyne

I think they both attended Wanies 50th Birthday bash acouple of years ago

I attach a pic of Geordie (also in shot Mr. Smith , Andy Cooper and the back of Breznevs head)

Funnily enough I bumped into Andy Cooper about a month ago in Cardiff. He hasn't changed. He's living in Devon. We compressed 25 years of catch up into half an hour. Lovely bloke Andy.
