Mess-tin

Postby Bill Bentley » Wed Jan 28, 2015 9:11 am

As I rarely look in on the other sections of this site, I am obviously missing out on quite a lot, time, time, time !

Having just looked in on the Archive section I was amazed to see the article about the WWI Mess-tin. Thinking that others also don't look in on the other sections all that often, I have decided to mention the subject here on the Forum - Regimental Chat, so that others might be encouraged to browse more often. With all of those knowledgable heads out there ... someone might be able to help ... if only they were aware of the question.

Read it yourselves in the Archives section.

Looked at this following your post the other day Bill, yes very interesting, but things are hectic here at present, so I failed to comment.

Bob,

Obviously been in archives for some time.

Was there any follow up on this with Mr Pegler ? If he still has it, I would be quite willing to go to Wigan and get some more in-focus shots of the mess tin, if he would allow it.
Regards

If it's not broke ........ Mess about with it, until it is !!

Believe it or not. I'm not Jewish.

Brian,

Thanks but the mess tin is already in my possession. Problem is, when I've just looked for it, I couldn't find it. Need a deeper search....

Well done Bob, it would have been sad to have let it go outside of the family !
