TANKFEST 2017

Postby sammy » Wed Jun 21, 2017 6:42 pm

Will be reliving my youth this weekend, my son Pete (who some of you will know form his time in the regiment 1985/91) and I will be listening to those sounds of tracks rattling along, smelling the grease and oil and seeing many familiar sights to refresh our memories of good and bad times past.
My memories of the Tank museum stretch back to 1961 when as a youngster of 15 we did Tank Museum guards and being warned to watch out for Herman the German, the museum ghost.

Hi Pinky
Pete often talks of times that you and Gaz shared with him in Berlin.
He tends to use computers all day long at work so when he is at home he leaves them alone, I will however remember you to him and ask him to give you a msg.

Sammy,

talking of ghosts from the past, old Herman the German was still very present (in the minds of some) even when I was with the JLR 1970-72. There were all sorts of horror stories being told, perhaps you would like to start a thread on the subject 'Herman the German' and let's see who has the most interesting story to tell. In my day the stories were all hearsay ... perhaps you have more to tell ...
