Car Grille Badges

Postby tigger » Tue Dec 11, 2012 8:17 am

Please Note: This topic has been split from 'Brass Hawks' as it had become off-topic. Bob_H

Thanks for your responses - sufficient to justify an order. The price will be £9.50 each as per the image below (I'll put up a better version when I receive it) including VAT and the fittings (see below). Unfortunately they're unlikely to be here prior to Christmas as the factory closes down for a break. As a special offer you can have the badge along with a tankard for £20. Collect (St Annes) if you can or pick up at Reunion as postage will be £3 for the badge alone or £6 if a tankard is included.

Please either send cheque as usual or pay online (details on the last Newsletter or on request by email).

Think you'll find mounting them on the front of a vehicle in this country illegal Trevor. I stand to be corrected though. Question - How long do you think it would remain on the front of a vehicle ?

You are right Brian like the Merc badge it has to be spring loaded so as not to remove the cyclists parts as he bounces aross your bonnet.

Like the cat on the old Jag bonnet. Mine just had the cats face badge. I prefer the spring loaded one on my Merc you can use it as a sight to get the cyclists dead centre.

Don't think I'd like one on the front of my bonnet anyway - would make me feel too much like a staff car driver. :)

However I think the old AA badges that could be either bolted onto the front/or rear bumber or within the front radiator grill are excellent (depending on the car). I'll have a look into those if anyone's interested.

I believe that many Hawks will be interested in the car badges, especially if they have a two pin security system, as previous enquiries were often made as to the procurement of this item during "shop" hours

I've had a price of around a tenner for these but the drawback is that there is an around £155 setup charge which will double the price.

On the other hand the suppliers say that they made one similar before and if they still have the die we'd only pay for the badges and delivery - their design is below. The size is 60 x 60mm for the badge insert & 80 x 80mm for the stainless steel backing plate, fittings are attached & will be included in the price. We need more people to show interest though!
