Re: website

Same problems at this end, even this morning, but I was able to reverse away from the adverts and make contact as you can see. Thanks Mick for calming Arnie down, me thinking he might be dead indeed. So Arnie, just in case, what's it to be: roses or daffodils at the funeral ? Or should we all just g...

Re: Texas flooding

Me thinks it's not over yet, wind yer neck in Florida ! I wonder if and when big Don will realize that he was wrong about climate change ? Now, it's not yet arrived in Florida, an american friend who has an apartment there was here visiting yesterday and one of his sons rang four times to impress up...

Texas flooding

Who could not have sympathy for the flood victims in Texas, 20 dead and 10,000 homeless as I write. It's been in the news on every channel every half an hour for almost a week. By chance I saw a report that in Asia there has also been a bit of flooding, with an estimated 1,200 dead and about ONE MIL...

Re: B sqn lads 1982 - Hohne. Stan, Mick, Sooty and me.

Thanks Pinky and Arnie for that run down on north and south. I have always fancied the wilderness of Canada and would always choose New Zealand over Australia though I have never been to either. I was up over the boarder into Canada whilst working in the USA but made a big mistake: Just before going...

Re: Electric SHOCK

Thanks for the feedback everyone, does nobody support this madness ? Arnie, I was NOT and am NOT suggesting that Global Warming is a con. I am in no doubt as to the FACT that our climate is changing: that is to say that 'a long period of climatic stability is coming to an end'. I also accept that we...

Electric SHOCK

If, like me, any of you environmentally friendly types are thinking of buying an electrically powered car … think again, this is perhaps the biggest con since unleaded petrol ! An average electric car uses about 15 kWh per 100 km. With a kWh (here) costing around 30 € cents that’s about €4,50 per 10...

Been very busy with all of the wet weather, harvesting, etc. Your grapes look just great Bob, I'll go along with Mick's idea and order a bottle of your best. At our place that's father-in-laws job, making the wines. He does some really good berry wines too. Anybody remember the Plough at Pitton (I t...

Re: Good investment

Just dug up the second of my 8 rows of spuds, I told you I liked them ! My rows are only 3 meters long which makes for ease of handling and portions the workload somewhat, but most importantly: a single insect net covers an entire row, so there is almost no problem with the beetles. So, in a 3 meter...

Tell me, is living in Canada really so much better than the UK or Europe ?

Re: Good investment

sweet pea, yup, mushy peas and chips, working mans grub ! Mick, glad that you liked my posh version of 'working mans grub'. We tend to get different sorts of potatoes here, so I don't know the Charlotte, though she sounds delightful . For sure having the right sort of spud is a great advantag...

Re: B sqn lads 1982 - Hohne. Stan, Mick, Sooty and me.

Arnie, do phones work down under ? And I thought that the natives were still making bead necklaces out of the telephone wires ... so that the phone lines are always down. That's why they use a thingy-me-jig, digerido, or boomerang to send messages. Is it true that with the boomerang you always get a...

Good investment

If I were to tell you to invest in a certain deal and, after just 3 - 4 months, promise that you would get back between 5 and 20 times your investment, what would you say ? ... Well I know of such an investment and it does not matter how little or how much you invest the margins remain the same ! .....

Do you mean that the driver has to get his feet wet when peddling ? Not much changed then eh  ! FFV = Flintstone Floating Vehicle. (I can make out which one is Fred and even Barnie, but the girls aren't wearing their 'floats'  ) Arnie, not heard from Rick for some time and, as he li...

When we used to swim our AFV's, in my day, they still looked like AFV's. That's a brilliant camouflage job   !
