Kipling, Europe and Brexit

One of my favourite Kipling poems is 'If', it starts like this: IF you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or being lie...

Re: To the Heroes of Ramnuggar

As ever, to the Heroes of Ramnuggar, cheers ! Ah life must have been so simple back then, go where you were sent, slish-slash and slish-slash again and again and then back home to a heroes welcome. Not any more, if you don't get prosecuted immediately they'll be chasing you for as long as you live. ...

Re: 11 November

Don't want to upset anybody but, I find it hard to swallow, all that effort and money going into remembering our fallen comrades and far too little being done for former service people who are alive and barely surviving on the street today. I understand there are more former service personnel on the...

Re: Wilderness

We are not getting any updates here on what happened during your storm, Ophelia. Regarding our storm Xavier, they are reporting that just in our county and just in public parks and on the alley's (roadside trees), 56,000 trees came down; no problem getting firewood next year then eh ! Tony, n...

In which case I'm sure your 'tool' will have been galvanized in China, so to speak, and so will have passed it's sell by date anyway     I too have tried to buy as good a quality as I could afford, I ran my own building business, on the side, whilst I w...

Re: Wilderness

Tony, How on earth do you think that 'a want to be farmer' could manage to buy a mobile home and be away much of the time ? I saw the world as a young man and to be honest 'we have the best part of this globe'. Anyway I'm too slow these days to keep learning new languages. Unfortunately this modern ...

Tony, not 'the' Mike Sarne ! Famous for his song... 'If there's one thing that I like, it's a burn up on my bike, a burn up on my bike that's wot I like, Na the M1 ain't much fun till y' try and do a ton ... etc. etc.. Really used to get me going when I was a young biker, ah the wind in ones hair .....

Re: B sqn lads 1982 - Hohne. Stan, Mick, Sooty and me.

Glad to see you back on line Rick, the insanely low prices of travel here are NOT sustainable, it's all part of a con to make the european union's 'unrestricted travel theory' look good. One example: aircraft do not pay any tax on their fuel, so it's cheaper to fly than to drive your own car, or tak...

Re: Wilderness

Better do it quickly Tony, there's an f'in big storm called 'Ophelia' on it's way to and through Ireland and the West coast of England. The last big storm here, last week, Xavier, ripped through our area with a vengeance, the authorities expect to be clearing fallen trees until xmas. Even the railwa...

Thanks Aidan for taking the trouble to let everyone know about your Grandpa. No doubt you will be kept busy doing all sorts of tasks for a while to come, enjoy it, it's great training and your grandparents will love you all the more for your help.

Ah yes, grandpa, get well soon John !

Same problems at this end, even this morning, but I was able to reverse away from the adverts and make contact as you can see. Thanks Mick for calming Arnie down, me thinking he might be dead indeed. So Arnie, just in case, what's it to be: roses or daffodils at the funeral ? Or should we all just g...

Me thinks it's not over yet, wind yer neck in Florida ! I wonder if and when big Don will realize that he was wrong about climate change ? Now, it's not yet arrived in Florida, an american friend who has an apartment there was here visiting yesterday and one of his sons rang four times to impress up...
