Re: The big tour

Hi everyone, here we are, 5 nights and six days into our tour and only just starting to catch our breath after the enormous effort of getting going. I suppose that we could have waited a couple of days longer and started in October, but the weather was turning and I wanted to be moving in September....

Re: HIGHWAY ROBBERY

Hi 27 and all, nothing fishy mate, I, like the honest dumb twat that I obviously am, wrote to them, willing to pay my fair dues as one should. But their dumb, incompetent system and their thieving corrupt ways, coupled with their insolent, idiotic operators are not interested. So, I gave them my e-m...

HIGHWAY ROBBERY

Highway robbery. After Steve’s memorial service I felt compelled to visit my oldest school friend, who had had a life changing motorcycle accident last year. I would fit this in with a visit to my fathers grave, which I had not seen since the day we buried him, on my birthday, in 2003. I don’t get a...

Re: Steven Hughes

Hi guys, I've been very busy of late, not least in doing the right thing for my old buddy Steve. On Friday I read the following Tribute, which I had also written, in the Falklands Chapel in Pangbourne College. There were at least five generals and almost 200 of our 2 Para comrades, not all of whom w...

The big tour

We have just returned from our final test tour before setting off on our big tour. We are driving our Kia Sorento, 2,5 liter turbo diesel 4x4 and pulling a Hobby 495UL caravan. We have had this car for some years and are very satisfied and confident that it is as good a towing car as you can get. (W...

Re: Steven Hughes

Bless you Rick, it is important to remember ! You are right I don't do facebook etc.. Thanks for the other link. Looking at the few battlefield pictures reminds me of how bare arsed the landscape is, better tank country than for us infantry. As one can see, the rubbish always just gets left behind. ...

Re: An Irish view of Africa !!!!!!

We, at least, are well, making the most of what is on offer, thanks for asking Arnie. I rather thought that I had seen this text before, but that takes nothing away from its factual accuracy ! The problem is: most people simply do not want to face up to reality and exactly that is why there is no so...

Re: An Irish view of Africa !!!!!!

No need to be sorry Arnie and I couldn't agree more that one should not shoot the messenger Mick :) ! Some may recall that I have for YEARS been saying: "following any local disaster where people require international help, sterilization should be a part of the help package", to prevent ex...

Re: Steven Hughes

Thanks so much Rick, Rory has made contact and I have now been able to invite him to the 'Service of Thanksgiving' which will be held in the Falklands Chapel in Pangbourne. It's a great piece of detective work that you have done for me/us and we are most grateful ! Yet again, it just goes to show ho...

Re: Ex Boy,s RAC memories.

You're all correct. I also got a resettlement course, converted my HGV 3 into HGV 1 and got a Royal Society of Arts Certificate of Professional Competence in National and International Road Haulage. But on leaving 2 Para as a L/Cpl (I had been demoted from full screw on re-enlistment) and because I ...

Re: Ex Boy,s RAC memories.

Like both of you I too was a former J.L., 1970-72, and I would not want to have missed one second of it. I am sure that I was, (probably still am), very naive and it was thanks to the experience, dedication and decency of the Permanent Staff that I was ushered on to the right paths. Having been a yo...

Re: Bill Bentley

Thanks Arnie, it's always inspiring reading your comments, how's the book coming along ?? In preparing for our sale I'm, at last, finishing off our driveway. It's about 25 meters long, 5 meters wide and opens out to enter the carport on one side and the ramp to the barn and orchard on the other side...
